how to frag pearl bubble coral?
I got one that is getting quite large but mounted on a small rock. Do I just splice him in half? what about the rock its attached on?

|
bubble corals usually don't encrust rocks. LPS corals are very difficult to frag, unless they're branching. Essentially you need to saw the skeleton without damaging the tissue, then induce the tissue to separate over a few weeks by slightly moving the two pieces of skeleton apart.
You might be better selling it and buying a new smaller colony.

I have also toyed with the Idea of splitting my bubble coral, But as Brad has said it is very difficult. The chance of loosing the entire colony has always been too great for me to attempt it.

I looked into fragging a bubble coral once. The risk of infection at each stage seems to be the concern.
