Default geek news: X-Prize goes to SpaceShipOne ..

http://www.space.com/missionlaunches...ss_041004.html

I watched a bit of the launch this morning, but alas, I decided I better show up at work so left before the space craft actually detached from the plane.

I still hope to see the Da Vinci Project make their attempt soon! I was all set to go to Kindersley to watch their attempt, but alas they delayed. If they go ahead though they might still be the first "Canadian" launch into space.

Which team was that? I haven't been following all of them. The DaVinci project was delayed due to some part they couldn't order in time or something like that. But there's at least one other team in Canada, there's that team in Ontario that's taking a modified WWII rocket (it literally looks like a model rocket, except it's big enough to carry people). I haven't heard that they encountered anything like that but I haven't been faithfully pursuing their progress.
