Fan question: oceanic 29 G biocube

Hey buds, has anyone take out the hood fans and used them as hang-on fans? I've taken off my hood and need to lower my temp by a few degrees, without using a bulky fan.
Hope to hear back from you. Will try J & L after work today to see if they have the adaptor for wall plug-in.
