![]() You forgot to mention one very important thing.... Budget.
If you want a top notch camera, pick up a Canon Pro1 its got an 8 megapixel CCD, 7x optical zoom. It is truly an awesome camera, as long as you dont mind the $1600 price tag. ![]() |

![]() If you want to get really close up shots, you'll want to get a camera with a good macro feature. Also you'll want the maximum optical zoom you can get. Digital zoom is pretty much useless, all it really does is crop the photo down in size which you can do with almost any photo editing program. That is the other important purchase with a digital camera. Usually the software that comes with a camera is minimalist at best. You will want to get a better one if you really want to make the most of your photos. Also, don't get too hung up on the pixel rating. there are many ways too calculate the total pixel count of the camera. Some cameras are better than others with a higher pixel count. Ask to see some photos taken with the camera set at its maximum resolution, and then compare what you see. You can also look for some ratings of various cameras online. www.pcworld.com is one site that has some good information on digital cameras and photography.

![]() I would definitely check out the review sites, however I do feel that my new Fujifilm A340 is an excellent camera and does very nice macro shots. I am looking at buying an underwater housing for it. I'll upload some of the photos I took of tidal pool critters on the coast next week, in the meantime you can see some shots I took with it at http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...aug%2005%2004/. It shoots at 4MP and has 3x optical zoom, and costs around $300 now. A decent camera for a low budget. I remember my first digital camera cost me $400 and shot at 640x480 (.5MP maybe?) with no zoom.
![]() A few good examples of the macro function: http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0514.jpg http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0529.jpg http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0538.jpg http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0540.jpg http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0544.jpg http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0553.jpg And my favorite: http://quinn.quinnhayden.com/photos/...4/DSCF0551.jpg
