Splitting a nem

I bought a teeny tiny RBTA a few months ago, and it has gotten super big really fast. It hasn't split yet, and where it has set up shop, I pretty much can't use half of my tank. I would estimate it is about 7" across and its tentacles stretch 3-4" high.

Has anyone had any luck with forcing their nem to split? (over feeding as some sites suggest) If all else fails, I know there is the option to manually split it, but I can see that turning into a disaster if I do it myself... if there is anyone in the city that would wanna do it for me
