Default Reef Octopus Skimmer Breaks Down in 48hrs!!!

So I picked up a Reef Octopus skimmer from Concepts and spent a ton on it and after 48hrs, it stopped working! The pump seems like its dead , has anyone experience this problem before? I hear a lot of people using this skimmer on this form, did I get a lemon?

After taking a part the skimmer and cleaning out the pump, if finally started! What I noticed is there is not a whole lot of micro bubbles forming though. Does the new skimmer need to be broken in ? I adjusted water level half way on the skimmer neck. Would that be good enough?

Knowing what actual model of skimmer would help, not just the brand.
