![]() Doing a waterchange this evening, I had a pump in a tote and noticed it wasn't running, I pulled it out by the cord and fiddled with it a bit, listened to it, and thought it was just plugged up - I then gave it a shake and it electrocuted me pretty bad. I then dropped it, unplugged it - and realized for whatever reason the cord had been severed. Thank god I didn't put my hands in the water to pull it out or it could of been a lot worse!
Has anyone else been electrocuted while doing daily chores? |

![]() That's one of the worst feelings in the world.
Sidenote: I work with a lot of electricians, and you weren't electrocuted, you were shocked. If you get electrocuted you die, apparently lol. I told a similar story about a stove cord electrocuting me ... and they straightened me out. |

![]() I have been shocked numerous times throughout the yrs on various electrical appliances both in and out of the tank most notably heaters and bubble pumps from my fresh water days.
On a side note I am scared s*** less of electricity I was electrocuted when I was 18 on the service rigs in the oil fields had no feeling in my right side for almost a full day and it friggen hurt have been scared of electricity ever since.

![]() I find salt water very hard on cords and cracks them over time, I use aquarium safe silicone lube on the cord that's in the s/w to help keep them supple. Power cords on used equipment should be looked at closely and avoided if they show signs of cracking near the equipment they run IMO. Oh ya I've been power punched as well ouch!!!
