If its what I had on my mangroves it is a type of bacterial or fungal colony that feeds on mangroves roots. I have had it effect some of my manggoves before really bad when they were in fresh water. It slowly disappeared for me once they were re introduced to saltwater after a few good scrubs in the tub. The mangroves seemed uneffected afterwards, Though it did seem like the white slime stuff preferred the mangroves that were shall I say weaker.
