There are lots of threads out there about converting Aquclear 110's into HOB cubes. Hagen also has a HOB fish breeder that uses an airstone to pull water from the display tank into the breeder with a gentle flow and no chance of shredding pods in the impeller of a powerhead. It comes in different sizes and is pretty cheap. There are lots of commercial ones as well such as CPR and Eshopps but for more money.

+1 Aquaclears make nice DIY refugium, depends on the size of tank you have though.

the aquaclear 70 or 110 would be perfect! its a very easy mod, google or youtube will have lots of options
I personally say bigger is better, but thats just me, the 110 puts out a lot of flow, but I cut of every other impeller blade on the impeller so its flow is quite slow now, you just nee a little light and some silicone, and thats pretty well it

Couldnt tell ya, but I would assume probably close to the same, I am sure you could even find a used aquaclear 110 for less, all you need is the filter canister, and motor really. I mean I have one laying around, but I am putting it on my cichlid tank haha, other wise, i would sell it to you for the cost of the new motor lol..
