Default Ferrets

I am thinking of getting one and have talked to some owners. Thoughts?

(Trevor, yeah I know it looks like King Eds in here... )

Personally...i say no to ferrets.

Stinky, nippy, and require too much attention.

...but that's just me

yeah, make sure you wear shoes. They use to cling to my feet with their teeth when I was changing their cages at the Pet Shop; even when I lifted my feet in the air. I didn't even do anything to provoke the attack.

Agree about the smell, but you get use to anything after awhile. They do litter train but get the proper box and it's still messy.

Didn't find too nippy and way more involved than keeping a cat.

Everytime I see one, I think about getting it but then come to my senses. My answer would be a no.

Was interesting when mine use to crawl up my pant leg though.

I've owned 3 or 4 over the years and some were worst than a small child, always getting into stuff and making a mess, others just the opposite.Seemed the males gave off more of an odour(once fixed and the scent glands removed). If properly trained(like any pet)they do calm down.Mine was only allowed to roam(under partial supervision )while I was home, and not allowed out of the cage untill they used the litterbox(takes patience to train).Get yourself a good ferret book or you can call the ferret society(there should be one for Calgary,Edmonton has one)they adopt out and come to your house with a few adoptees to see which is suited for you and your house.
