![]() i've got an Odyssea 3 x 250W DE & 4 PC fixture.
i bought the fixture used and have never used the PCs yet. currently there are 50/50 bulbs in them. before i go out and buy new actinic PC bulbs, is it worth it? are PCs good for actinic supplementation? I've heard of people modding the fixture and replacing the PCs with T5s. am i better off doing this? i've never used PCs or T5s before. I've used VHO for actinics and found them to be great. anyone mod a fixture to put VHOs in? is it doable? thanks for your input!

![]() Anything is possible. Retro with 2', they have the most par. I contemplated doing it to my 6', but then i found the URI Bulbs which are pretty good IMO. Way cheaper, way more light output, and a few more color choices than the coralife's. For the coast comparison it was still cheaper to stick to the PC's, not as may color choices.

![]() If you are only looking to supplement the MH light with actinics then I would just stick with using PC's. They are still great bulbs, just be sure you change them out regularly.

![]() PCs are actually pretty good despite the bad rap they have. I actually use high power PCs in my research that are waaaay more powerful than most T5s (for the same size bulb). Just get a good PC bulb and you're set. I recommend the UVL bulbs from BRS. They're super strong. They actually made some if my SPS bleach when I made the switch (and I have even reduced the time in them!)
