Default Question about orderin LR...

Hi all,

I'm ordering LR for the first time... from J&L... and I was just wondering... since I've never done this before... can the rock stay in the container it's shipped in for more than 24 hrs or once you get it is it absolutely crucial to toss it into the tank? I have no idea what's in the container to keep the rock well maintained so I was just wondering... basically because I'm buying a tank a couple of days after I move to Vancouver, but I wanted to preorder some LR from J&L... but wanted to make sure the tank was there...

I would say get it in the Tank as soome as possible, but 24 hours shouldn't be a problem. My advise would be to give yourself 4 days between adding water and adding LR. In those 4 days you will be getting the temp correct, plumbing, getting SG correct, adding sand, and waiting for the water to clear. There always seems to be 30 things I forget but to be safe I would get the tank one week-end then the LR the next.

hope this helps

its best to get the LR in water asap or the ammount of alive critters will decrease quickly.

Just pick up a rubbermaid and throw it in there with SW and a powerhead. I wouldn't leave it 24hrs, it could dry out significantly.
