Hi, I am just starting out with marine tanks with some soft corals. I do not have a timer for the lights yet but I intend to get one. Yesterday I forgot to turn the lights on. Question: when I got home last night and realized my mistake would it have been better to turn the light on for a few hours at night or just go back to the right cycle the next day? thanks.

Just go back to your regular cycle. It will not hurt anything at all to not have light for a day.

You should be able to pick up a nice timer on sale this time of year. I got a good digital one from totem. Stay away from those timer powerbars though IMO. |

Think of it as an "overcast" day. Two days a week, my halides do not come on. Just actinics. Thus simulating an "overcast", aka cloudy, day.
