A lot of people find they lose their shape under less intense lighting. Metal halide seems to keep the tips better.

Most BTAs I know of lose their "bubble tips" eventually.

My old BTA was ~4-6 inches under a 250w MH and it barely had any bubbles . It was quite healthy though, until it got sucked into the drain and chopped up by my skimmer

What kind of light is it under? How deep in the tank is it?

FWIW, under my PC's on my 20g tank (2x65w) I used to see some bubble tips on my RBTA... I have since switched to MH (150w HQI) and I haven't seen any bubble tips since ...

like I said, FWIW !

Mine bubbles sometimes under my 2x96w PC's, and I'll find out this afternoon what it does under 4x39W T5's.

my bta under 400mh and 2 vho actinic, my tank is 24 inches high
seem most of you have the same problem
