Microsoft Frontpage is pretty much as simple as Word... but you don't have much control. I use Macromedia Dreamweaver normally.

Dreamweaver is all I use as well.
Might take some learning but its the way to go.

xara makes neat ones for you that are stupidly difficult to alter once it's done :P

If its your first web page try frontpage - its easy - its called "wisiwig" ( what you see is what you get) give it a try. What you put on the page is what people see - nice progream overall for begining - IMO. Other programs are better but need more understanding of HTML, Frames etc. Once you get the hang of it there is no end to what you can do really except you imagination. Its like your first tank - start slow then build and if it doesn't work out - hmmmmmmm - buy another frag?

Just looking at purchasing Dreamweaver is confusing . I'm coming up with prices from $10 US to $300US. Probably because I don't really know what I am looking for.

If one was wanting to buy the basic Dreamweaver for someone who would like to learn HTML, and therefore wants to go beyond Frontpage, what would one be looking to buy ?

I've been using FrontPage 2000 to build and maintain my web site. and while it is rather simple to use, the results are also rather simple. I am not knowledgeable in HTML, so I have not undertaken trying to do anything fancier. The limitations of FrontPage are really not a big isse though since it is just my personal web site and not a commercial venture.

Deb, just pick up a copy of DreamWeaver 4 and you should be fine. It's not the newest version, but for what you describe it's the beter choice. The new MX version is too steep a learning curve, esp if you're not out to become a web slinger.

Either 4 or 6 Deb, which ever you can beg borrow or steal from some one will work fine. Dreamweaver makes front page look like a joke but both have there uses.
