After having and still enjoying my stable reef tank I wanted another tank but fish only. Long story short my tank has had troubles from the get go.so after medicating and leaving my tank empty and doing water changes I still had a healthy fish die on me. So I want to start over would running my tank at 100petcent fresh water be sure to kill any parasites or velvet ick?

Sorry to hear that...yes it will kill any parasites. Think of it as extreme hypo-salinity. I would just leave the freshwater in with no heaters for a few weeks.

Leaving it dry for 48 hours will also accomplish much of the same.

Planning on doing both thanks guys. I was going to make a few changes while the tank was down and fill and test with freshwater. So hopefully it's a sure fix
