Default Purple Plume Gorgonian placement

Reef Wonderland is carrying Eco-Gorgs, which is the first time I've seen them in Calgary. I may have picked up a medium sized Purple Plume on impulse because I've always wanted one and never thought I'd get one. However, upon getting home I realized I have exactly zero space for it! How aggressive/delicate are these things? can it touch other corals? I can put it in dozens of places, but there's nowhere where it's branches won't brush up against other corals else unless I put it in the sand, which just looks awkward.

I have a few gorgs and they do touch other corals mainly zoas and a clam. I dont think they are aggressive but it might take a punch if you put it close to something that is. I recently moved a few into the sandbed & I like them there the best, its like a tree of the ocean.

I find they do best when there is zero movement of the base. So it might be a pain but consider epoxying it to a large rock then it's free to sway in the current without being rocked.

I've had the same experience as tony with all my gorgs except the corky. Those things would grow no matter what you do to them.

Agreed a solid base is a must.

Absolutely They should sway without hitting or brushing against anything , pretty Hardy gorg once it gets use to your system I have several of the eco gorg I had brought in a bunch with concept and I tried 9 of them all but 3 did very well and I still have them, the whips are a sensitive one I've tried two and no luck I thinks its a flow thing.

Most I find love high flow I'm over 100x flow rate and I trim mine quite a bit it grows fast

They arnt aggressive but don't appreciate being sting some of my Gorgs have pink star polyp growing on them they don't mind.

Should have polyps out all day long and bright not always at night

They also shed and do not appreciate algae growth on them

well the only place to put it that satisfies everything that people said was in the sand. It's on a pretty solid plug with a long peg so it's quite stable when it's buried almost to the base of the gorgonian. I'm not really digging the aesthetic of where it is though as it clearly looks like an after-thought, and I can't make it look 'intentional' without re-doing pretty much everything, so it might be for sale shortly, we'll see how fickle I am this weekend.
