Default anyone got a sander i can borrow? (in the lowermainland)

so we sanded my hardwood floors this weekend. (DIY, not professionally)

and i tried a dark colored stain, and needless to say, you can really tell it wasnt professionally done.

so i am going to just varnish the bare floor and keep the natural wood color (oak).

but i need to sand out a 10' x 3' strip of brown stained floor. and yes, it does look like poo poo.

i have a hand sander and a palm sander, but even with those it would take a lot of hard work to get it sanded out.

does anyone have a bigger heavyduty sander i can borrow? a belt sander maybe?

just let me know, thanks!

Default HD sander

I think your best bet will be home depot rentals - they rent for 4 hour periods and they have two different ones - one is like the floor polishers but with sand paper (circular pattern) and they have another one like a upright vacuum cleaner that uses a large belt sander. You should try using these ones to give yourself a professional result.... if there is ANY advice I can give you when it comes to renovating is don't take short cuts where you will noticably the imperfections and kick yourself in the butt for the remainder of your time in the house. Do it right and do it right the first time especially now that (I assume) all your furniture is out of that room. Hope that helps but go to the HD rental and look at their machines to give you an idea. Good luck

ah yes, i rented the sanders from RONA for the sanding.

the HD near my house are rebuilding the rental area so they dont have sanders at the moment.

i was just looking for a more convenient way of getting equipment.

if i were to rent the equipment again, it would take me ~2hrs to make 2 return trips to RONA (including waitin in line etc) and 1/2 an hour to do the actual sanding.
