![]() hello fellow reefers.....I am in transition to a smaller aquarium, but not buying anything for 3-4 months, however I do have about 25 pounds of live rock I'd like to keep for that tank, due it being very cool in shape and look. To keep it properly, can i just store it in a smaller tank with the water I used from the tank I am shutting down? If so, should i do water changes on that water every few weeks until I am ready to setup a new tank? I plan to place a power head in so the water does not get too stagnant, but would it require any lighting while being stored?
Thanks! |

![]() +1. And water change every few weeks (or even a month) will be helpful to get nitrates down in the tank. And keep it in a dark place so that nitrate doesn't play its role.

![]() If you want the coralline to survive you will need to have light over it. Using just actinics seems to speed up coralline growth and hinder algae. I would do 100% waterchanges every couple weeks or so depending on the nutrient level in the water.
