Default Proper way to keep live rock for 3 months?

hello fellow reefers.....I am in transition to a smaller aquarium, but not buying anything for 3-4 months, however I do have about 25 pounds of live rock I'd like to keep for that tank, due it being very cool in shape and look. To keep it properly, can i just store it in a smaller tank with the water I used from the tank I am shutting down? If so, should i do water changes on that water every few weeks until I am ready to setup a new tank? I plan to place a power head in so the water does not get too stagnant, but would it require any lighting while being stored?

Thanks!

+1. And water change every few weeks (or even a month) will be helpful to get nitrates down in the tank. And keep it in a dark place so that nitrate doesn't play its role.

If you want the coralline to survive you will need to have light over it. Using just actinics seems to speed up coralline growth and hinder algae. I would do 100% waterchanges every couple weeks or so depending on the nutrient level in the water.
