![]() Does anyone here play racquetball? I've recently started and I can see why it was so popular for a while there in the 70s. It's absurdly addicting. I've played badminton and tennis my whole life, but this is totally different. I actually look forward to my next scheduled game. Anyways I thought I'd check. If anyone in Calgary or Edmonton plays, we should get together and have a game sometime. I could use some tips from someone who's got some experience.

![]() To be honest I prefer squash. It's a little more challenging because the ball is basically done on the first bounce. So there's a little more strategy as you run your opponent across the court and he/she runs you around the court. It's wild and 45 minutes of that and you're done.
That said if you REALLY prefer raquetball I think I still have my old raquet somewhere (I used to play both). I'd be interested in playing sometime. Take note though: just because I play it doesn't mean I'm very good at it. Sports and I have never really been all that close of friends .... LOL.

![]() I just started playing about 2 weeks ago as well, and I agree it's addicting. I would also like to know if anyone around my area plays.
I work for the City of Richmond so I get free court and racquet use at my center. |

![]() I prefer racket bal over squash myself. more of the court is in bounds for racket ball (the top half of the back wall is glass in racket ball and open in squash) makes for some more interesting shots. for the speed freaks you can buy raquet balls that have a higher bounce to them but it gets insain and they hurt more

![]() Yup, I'm with Steve on this. I've tried squash and there's not enough ball movement and too much people movement. I like the speed of racquetball. I do agree that squash is probably more strategic. Tony, is there a court near your place that you know of?

![]() The lack of ball movement is what makes it hard. You get very few chances. Thus it's a cerebral exercise as well as a physical exercise and .. I don't know. I find there's a certain finesse to it that is lacking in raquetball. Don't get me wrong, I used to prefer raquetball myself but I have since graduated up in the world
![]() ![]() I play at the Southland Leisure Centre. There are a few places closer to me (SLC is not far though), but they're hella expensive. I just ran into Nate at the SLC as a matter of fact and HE was off to a squash game too ![]() ![]() There's a lot more transference, IMO, between badminton and squash than there is badminston and raquetball. I've known a few badminton players who were very good at their game but never played squash, but took to squash right away.
