Going to the island.

I am looking for suggestions of things to do on Vancouver Island. It will be me, the girlfriend, and our three teenage kids. Is the Shaw Ocean Discovery centre worth going to? We will be going to Butchart Gardens, Tofino, Cathedral Grove, and possibly the mill tour in Port Alberni? Where's the best fish & chips place? What about any boat tours?
