Default will this work

got a spare 2MDQ-SC lil giant and thinking of using it on a close loop system
my tank is already set up so there no way i can drill it
will this work ?
any suggestion would be much appreciated

Over size the intake line, so you don't starve your pump. I would get a thread on filter screen from J&L to keep the fishies out.

Also I would put unions at the pump and valves, so you can remove the pump and not drain all the lines. Then just feed a 1/4" line down as low as you can go and get the first prime.

Yes, that would work fine. Done many that way. As mentioned, oversize the intake. Make lots of slots in it, so there is no harsh intake draw, tha animals can get stuck on.

well what i was thinking of doing is cover the bottom
and drill from 1/2" bits down to 1/16" from bottom and up

1/2 is too large, I'd just stick with 1/8" holes, If you want to go with the 1/2 I'd cover the whole thing with nylon screen then or something similar.
