Default Sohal Vs Black long spine urchin?

So I just got this Sohal a few weeks ago and he seems to have taken a liking to my black long spine urchin. The urchin's spines went from 10in to about 4, and the sohal keeps nibbling on the spines and making them smaller it seems. Does this sound normal?

My sohal had a soft spot for very expensive and exotic sponges. Reduced a 7X3 inch bright blue sponge colony to confetti in 3 days.

I think sohals have a taste for things that other tangs might not find palatble in general.

I was lucky in that once my sohal was removed I had literally hundreds of small colonies of that blue sponge start growing on all my rocks from the bits that got scraped off - but you're not going to be so lucky with that urchin.

Well I may have to give away the urchin. Anyone in Vancouver want a free urchin?
