Default Leopard Wrasse

Here is my Splendid Leopard wrasse. I've had it for a month. It was chased by my neon dottyback for about 5-7 days before it would come out of the sand to eat. Eats like a pig now. In the background is my other Leopard wrasse. It was sold as a Potters but it looks more like an Ornate. I've had that one for 10 months.

Hey Tom, I got her from Island Pets in Richmond.

Here's a pic with my Canary Wrasse of 2+ years.

Is there a name for that type of lepord wrasse ? I have 1 lepord wrasse and it is all black with white dots and some blue/yellow dots, I was told from the lfs that the black ones are males and the one you got is a female ?? I dont know how true that is I didnt belive it. But I would like to add another lepord wrasse, the one in your pic but I cant seem to find it ! Such a beautiful fish excellent photos too Looks like a very nice tank too
Once again beautiful fish, your sooo lucky !!

There are various names for this leopard wrasse:
Splendid, African, Vermiculate, Divided, Bipartitus, Blue Star
Macropharyngodon bipartitus bipartitus

http://animal-world.com/encyclo/mari...pardWrasse.php

Mine is a female. Males look completely different. Here's a pic from the net:

Your black one is a Macropharyngodon negrosensis. Sometimes called Yellowspotted leopard wrasse. Males and female black leopard wrasses look similar. The male will have less spots and some lines on its face but are still black.

Here's a pic of a male black leopard wrasse from Liveaquaria.

And here's an example of a female from the net

I used to have a couple of black leopard wrasses for a few years and sold them when they got big as I needed to reduce my bioload. I sure am missing them now.
