I have not added anything new to my system for over 6 months, and all of a sudden there is a planaria outbreak. annoyed! Started FWE yesterday

I just don't get where they came from. Obviously they were in the tank. I removed a piece of starboard a few weeks ago, and i wonder if some were living under there for years.

Ya, they're weird like that. I urge you not to use FWE. Does more harm than good IMO. Pick up a blue head-shield (blue velvet) Nudi. It will mow them down in no time flat, you get a cool looking nudi for a while and you're not sticking chemicals into your tank. A win on all fronts.

Hi Steve,
I already used FWE (and have done so before several times with great results). As for the Blue Velvet. They are beautiful creatures, but have a very short life span in aquariums, and do not do very well in high flow. I had 3 of them in my old 75 gallon tank when I had a serious case of the flatworms. They are amazing to watch, and would eat all day, but they will never get every single one, and would get blown around by my mp40s. It's a no win situation; either they eat all the flatworms and starve to death, or they don't get all of them, in which case once they die, flatworms will take over. Just my 2c. I actually wanted to set up a small tank with one of the blue velvets, and keep feeding them from another tank, but it would be a lot of work.
