Default Lionfish gone blind

I've encountered a problem I haven't come across before. (Not that I've ever encountered a problem before... ).
I know Lionfish aren't commonly kept amongst y'all but I'd appreciate even the ludicrous ideas !
I've had "Lionel" (Volitan) for almost four years now. Of all my fish, this guy is truly my buddy. This species has such character. His predecesor lived for 14 years.
Lionel is/was fed every second day whether he wanted it or not. (He alway's wanted to be fed). Alternating Krill and Silversides. He hasn't eaten for what is almost two weeks now. I quickly realized he cannot see me, or anything else it seems. When I first noticed this it was obvious he cold smell the food but he began swimming around in circles, banging into things etc. It broke my heart to see something wrong with my buddy ! I did get him to eat a Silverside after "dangling" one right in front of his lips. Since that day though, I can't get him to accept food.
His eye's are clear, but not very responsive to room movement. No changes to his environment. He's still very active. The tank is illuminated by 2 55W P.C.'s (10k), and a pair of 40w N.O. Actinics. Did I ever read Lion's should be kept in "darker" tanks ? Not sure.
He's obviously getting thinner, not too bad yet, but if I don't get him eating soon the results are obvious.
I don't mind hand feeding my blind buddy for another ten years but he's not being cooperative.
Suggestions appreciated !
