![]() ![]() Initial impressions of these Aqua Illumination LED modules are fantastic...WOW, In fact. A bank of six modules were placed above our 230 gallon display this week. They are extremely bright, quiet and exhibit very low heat transfer. Although they are currently suspended higher than normal for coral acclimation, we have already observed a huge water temperature drop since replacing them with the three metal halides. As a matter of fact, the chiller has yet to fire. There is also crisp light through the 30 inch water column. The corals and fish love are loving it too. The next few weeks will tell a better story. Soon we link them to our GHL Profilux controller and shoot some PAR reading with the new APOGEE Quantum Meter. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Reduced Energy The AI modules are some of the most efficient lighting products on the market. Because of the lower energy consumption, an AI module will realize over a 1/3 savings when compared to the equivalent us of a low output metal halide (250W) bulb. ![]() No Heat Increase The AI shows less than a 1 degree water temperature increase over a 12 hour period. A low output metal halide (250W) bulb in the same configuration shows an increase of over 15 degrees. Because of this, it is unlikely that aquarists will have to use chillers when running AI modules resulting in substantial savings from equipment purchases and energy consumption. ![]() Over 8 Times Longer Life The AI’s modules are rated for over 50,000 hours providing for years of maintenance free and environmentally friendly use. ![]() A quick update........
WOW........These Aqua Illumination LED lights are powerful. The lights were suspended 14 inches above our 230 gallon and still managed to bleach a few corals. Most recovered, but lost a huge Orange Monti Cap. The other corals are growing like weeds under these LED lights. Still waiting for the GHL Profilux Interface Cables, but should be here this week. I can't wait to run some juice through those babies. ![]() As for PAR Readings....that will happen shortly. Our APOGEE Quantum meter is here, but now I just need to slowly drop the AI LED Fixtures closer to the water column before shooting some accurate readings for you. One last remark....The Aqua Illumination LED's are simply amazing....or did I already mention that? ![]() Stay tuned as we light up our display tank's life!!! |

![]() so what do you think i would need to put over my 55 gal bow front to support coral i would like to achieve say 4 watts per gallon roughly
