![]() So I bought a couple wrasses and a tang from JL the other day and one of the wrasses seems to have ich/ick. Anyone know if they will take back the fish I just bought and cure it for me? that is if i can catch the sucker.

![]() I highly doubt that they will take them back and treat them as ich is mostly caused by stress and they will probably say that you have some thing else in your tank that stressed them out or that your tank already had an ich problem.

![]() Unless they have a QT tank setup, they'd be infecting the rest of their stock so likely no.
they WILL probably try and sell you products to cure. =) |

![]() I don't know if it has not gone past their guarantee then I would pick up the phone and talk to someone there. They seem to be nice enough people there and if then say no they will more than likely try and give you some help as to what you need to do over the phone. It never hurts to ask questions, the answers may hurt some times but that is the chances. They do put arrival dates on tanks I have noticed so if you want to be more prudent as to what you are buying ask questions before buying. Try to buy fish that have been in the store for a while as they have had more time to get over the stress of the transporting them there in the first place.

![]() I guess it does not hurt to give them a call to find out. To answer your topic question, in Calgary, i know Gold will take fish back and treat, not sure about other LFS.

![]() Even if they did take them back to help you "cure" your fish of ich, your water is likely infected with it now and putting them in your tank is going to put them back to square one. If you do a search for "ich" you will find a quadrillion opinions (and experiences) on ich. Everything ranging from, "oh my fish just live with ich, it is fine" to "I saw ich yesterday and today all my fish are dead". Lots of opinions on QT'ing versus not QT'ing.. etc.. etc.. welcome to saltwater !
![]() Anyway, if you truly want to rid yourself of ich, at this point you would probably need to take ALL your fish out and put them into a QT and let your tank run fishless for a period of time to be 100% sure that all the ich parasites are dead before adding any fish back to your display tank. That or help your fish fight ich off themselves by keeping the water healthy, clean and feeding garlic soaked food. If your fish are healthy they can fight off ich themselves, but you will still have ich in your tank. That's my humble opinion ![]() |

![]() If you want it to kill what is in your tank you will have to leave it empty for 8 weeks. Others options out there to kill it in the water column as copper, ozone and uv. Don't use copper if you want inverts as it will stay in your system. I find feeding good quality food soaked in garlic and vitamins with good quality water they should recover. Good Luck

![]() well sounds like this stuff is gonna happen no matter what.
I only have 5 fish in the tank right now, i could try to get them all out for 8 weeks but it could come back when I add a new fish. So even if I feed with garlic soak foods the stuff sticks around? Fish just are able to handle it better? |
