![]() hi, i bought a rock covered in shrooms from a fishstore about 3 months back, (tank is 4m old), well.....i just came back from vacation and the rock isnt a rock at all.....it has a mouth and a hole, im thinking some kind of clam, but i dont know how it has survived 3 months, i only have PC lighting, and i dont dose anything cept calcium......i thought clams needed phyto nd stuff

![]() Looks like some kind of a clam/ mussel? Sometimes scallops will look at lot like a rock until it opens up. It may just be a filter eater, don't know for sure.

![]() Hi, It appears to be like the one I had a few years ago, kinda cool creatures. It is known as a jewel box clam, it has other common names but can't remember them at the moment. Very easy to care for, filter feeder. No other special requirements I believe. Mine was doing fine under
t5's. The only reason I lost mine was due to a crash from a move from bc to alberta. Good luck! |

![]() I have one in my tank a bit smaller attached to a rock you can't tell it's there till it opens up mine have a black mantel feeds just like a filter feeder. It is also covered in Coraline algae.
