Default KH Levels

Just did the KH level test on my tank and the reading is high. About 180. How do I lower this? And is it REALLY bad being this high?

Sounds like your using a Hagen test kit. Am I correct?
If So I use one too and that is actually a good reading your getting.

The way to convert it is.

You got 18 drops and you multiplied it by 10 like they said.

your 18 drops actually converts to 3.6 meq/l or for DKH take your 180 and multiply it by .056 and you get a DKH of 10.08. Good #'s.

Make sense?

So here is a simplified version of my bantering.

For Meq/l one drop is equal to 0.2meq/l. so 5 drops to change to yellow would be 1.0meq/l and 10 drops to change to yellow would be 2.0meq/l and so on.

For DKH take your final # and multiply it by .56 for 10.08. Or take the final Hagen # of 180 and multiply it by .056.

cheers
