Default Lighting Question

So here's my question, On my new tank which is 25" deep, I have decided to go with 400w ballasts and lighting. My question is what rating should the bulbs have for output. 20000K or 14000k? I will not be putting in a lot of sps but will be trying a few when tank is set up.
Thanks in advance for all advise.

if you want your colours to pop go with the 20k. the light coloring will be quite blue aswell.
if you want a faster growth from your coral go for the 14k. this range will be a little more white

I like the white brighter look myself so i went with 14k the 20k has a much more blue look to it ..When i had 20k bulbs my sps didnt really grow to much at all even as close to the top i could put them nothing just stayed alive ..changed to 14k and wow what a difference with the color and growth i have sps in the mid level growing good now

400W on a 25" tall tank seems like overkill if you don't plan to be SPS dominant. That's a lot of power and a lot of heat for no real benefit. 250W would be plenty IMO, and you could go with the 14K.

Thanks for the replies, I have decided to go with 250w instead of 400w and with the 14k bulbs.
