Default Calcium reactor too big?

This may seem like a dumb question, but is there such a thing as a calcium reactor that is too big? I have found a used one that is rated for up to 400 gallons, and my tank is only a 55... will this cause any problems with either dosing too much, or being hard in the equipment in any way?
