![]() I have a speckled RBTA that split on me.
It's pretty small. Estimating maybe 1.5" expanded? It should get larger over time if fed well. Pictures of the original from a few months ago: ![]() ![]() $40

![]() Trust me a nem belonging to Tony would never be dying or have anything on it dying. He is the clam and nem guru around here. I wish this little guy was big enough for my clown.

![]() I supposedly purchased one of these "speckled anemones" unfortunately they colored back up in my fish tank and turned into non speckled anemone. Can you please show me references or pictures to support this.
Thanks Devonious |

I just gave you a link for a pic. Just because you got burned on one doesn't mean that someone else has. Go to reefcentral and search and you will find lots of threads. None the less Tony its is pretty cool but i am anemone'd out....lol |

![]() I somehow missed the discussion on this thread. Sorry for weighing in on my own thread a little late.
I have seen a few of these "speckled" roses featured on RC and other places before. To me it's just an interesting colour morph. When I bought this anemone initially it was very small (approximately 3/8") and at that size it showed no visible speckling. It had since grown to approx 3" before it split. Both daughter anemones are about 1.5"-2" at the moment and both retain the speckled patterning. Rest assured I would not knowingly sell an unhealthy anemone. I simply called it speckled to give the anemone a description for this thread, but I promise it was healthy and doing well in my tank. Otherwise I simply wouldn't sell it. $40 isn't worth burning a bridge over and potential friendship over by unloading something onto an unsuspecting Canreefer. For what it's worth, zooxanthellae death would in fact be a more systemic event resulting in the overall bleaching of the anemone. Bleached roses have a very fluorescent pink look to them and just a generally "anemic" sort of look and feel to them. Bear in mind that different tanks and different conditions will also cause anemones, just as corals, to take on different colourations. Maybe in a year's time there will be no speckling left. I don't know. To me the fact that's it's a rose anemone and that it's a healthy tank split specimen is the more important description. Hope this addresses your concerns. Also just as a footnote (actually what I meant to update this thread with initially!) was to thank everyone for the interest, but the anemone did sell and go to her new home a couple days ago. Thanks and if there's another split down the road I'll post up again and try to remember all who contacted me with interest if they haven't found another one by then, then they'll get dibs. ![]() cheers
