![]() Hello.
I bought a Reef Octopus DNW-110 here back in June. I finally only started putting it together today. I had a question. On my instruction manual, it says that this skimmer is for "external use only". I want to set it up insump however. Do you see any problems if I did so? Thanks. http://www.coralvue.com/pdfs/DNW110B%20Instructions.pdf Last edited by Samw; 01-16-2010 at 09:09 PM. |

![]() I would imagine the limiting factor would be whether the pump can be submersed, since it says external use only I suppose it is not a submersible pump.
edit: from what I can see they now have a DNWB model that is internal or external? Maybe you should give them a call to find out

![]() I have emailed coralvue to ask them about why the directions indicate that the skimmer should only be used externally. To be honest I have no idea why the instructions indicate this.
We have lots of customers locally that have used the skimmer internally without any issues. In fact we have a DNW-150 running internally in the sump in our fish system for well over a year now with no issues.

![]() Thanks. It would be good to know what their concerns were about running it in-sump.
