Default Barnacle ?

I picked up a piece today and it has a good little amount of Barnacles on it. They can easily be taken off. I don't know squat about them and will do some research when I get home from the Lions game (down with the Eskimo's ). Anybody think I should take them off or keep them in the tank?.

Read a post once about the life cycle of barnacles, something about one stage being a free swimming parasite. Might have been on reefs.org.
