Sump design help needed

My current sum is kinda sucking...... I'm looking to have a spot for chaeto in it, but can't seem to figure it out.

A----return from DT (into a filter sock)
B----Plumbing from DT
C----Phosban Reactor
D----Return pump to DT

There doesn't seem to be a lot of water movement in the main part. Maybe a power head in there?

I can move the return from the DT somewhat. Maybe to straight down from the tank?

Can I use egg crate to make separations? Or does it need to be acrylic? The sump is Acrylic. 161/4 inch wide 33" long.
