![]() Bought this about a month and a half ago completly bleached, its colored up quite nicley with a completly purple outer ring and a yellow spotches on a purple back ground for the center. Now when I got it I thought it was some sort of plate coral (Fungia) but I'm a little confused. Its shapped like a plate but it has like 15-25 tiny yellow little mouths all over it (Which eat meaty foods), in addition to that it has 1 central mouth like a fungia coral.
Any Ideas? Colby at elite didn't seem to know what it was. Levi ![]() |

![]() that looks like a typical Fungia species, (the pink edged with bleached white on the right)
these coral often bud and produce little mouths that form new babies these babies will grow upwards off the central fungia parent, parent often dies but not always leaving many of these little babies behind. this is often a response to survival, or breeding, environmental conditions etc http://www.wetwebmedia.com/fungiidreprofaqs.htm this link has some pictures ![]() cheers dave |
