Gonna be away from my tank for a while, so thinking to add a skimmer just in case.

While I'm sure the addition of a skimmer is a great idea it is never a good idea to add new equipment to a tank before you leave for vacation. Just make sure any new hardware is tuned and monitored for a good while BEFORE leaving for vacation.
