carbon in sump

I was just wondering if anyone uses carbon bags in there sump flutes? I use a canister filter one month on one month off. But I was looking and these new filter bags would fit great in the flutes of my sump, and will this strip my system too much???

not sure what your meaning with sump flutes, but I keep carbon in a mesh bag and place it between the baffles.
