Default Additives

What are the basic additives that you put in an sps and lps reef tank (example calcium). Thanks

Calcium and Dkh tend to be the most common. Mag is starting to be added and monitored as well. i also use Coral Snow, Coral Vitalizer, Amino Acids on a cycle as well. Lastly I've been adding k80 (Potassium) once a week and have been liking the results.

This is a good article of where your parameters should be.

To answer the question basically...calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium. They should be monitored with good quality test kits (Salifert or Elos), and dosed as needed.

How old is the tank and how heavily is it stocked with corals? First step is to buy the test kits and see if you indeed need to dose anything.

first step....psh

Once you can monitor where the readings are you can go from there. I also add Amino Acids to the tank.

Thanks for all the great info. I have not yet set up the reef tank yet, but just figuring out how difficult it would be to take care of.
