new setup lighting ?

i was wondering what you long term reef guys are useing ? because i'm in the middle of building a new hood for my new 160g tank

i was going to use 2 mh pendants wattage ? 250-400 ? tank is 34" deep
corals will be neer top to middle

and for actinics , cp or t5 or t12 witch is better ? longer life /brighter ?

i was thinking of a 2 mh pendent and 2 actinic or pure actinic and 2 of another spectrum

to get a 3 step setup so it is a gradual clime to mid day to the mh




or am i thinking too much ? , what do you think my best set up should be ?
i want to use retofits so i can change later if i have to and to fit them neetly in my hood that still might be hung from cieling to lessen the weight on me floor , 160g on second floor over main beam in basement , 240 + will be going in basement next year i hope
