How bad is the outbreak? What are the inhabitants? What have you tried so far? I'd avoid treating in your main tank, so if possible, try to remove the affected fish and put in quarantine where you can treat with hyposalinity or copper. If this isn't possible you could try garlic soaked food. All the food I feed is soaked in garlic extract as well as selcon and I see no signs of the parasite despite the fact that it was present at one time. Good luck.

I would personally remove the fish to an isolation tank and treat them with copper or formalin, if they are Clown fish remember clowns are sensitive to copper so try something along the lines of Sea Chem Cupramine.

Garlic has been known to work well but it is best accompanied by a lowering of the salinity which is very hard on Inverts so again, .... I would take the fish out. I guess like Troy says it depends on how bad the out break is.

Are the fish rubbing against stuff or are they going head on into a power head etc, like swimming against a strong current? IF they are, then you need to treat them right away, their gills are infested, probably with Amyloodinium this is a nasty one so again treatment asap is needed, I'm not sure if Amyloodinium is treatable with formalin.

I would try garlic first. I know it sounds silly feeding your fish garlic, but it has worked for a lot f people, myself included.
The problem I have with chasing the fish and putting it another tank and dumping in chemicals and then moving it back again, is that causes stress which causes ich to break out. It's best to quarantine your fish first; if you didn't, I think moving it will only amplify your problem. Be sure though that it is ich before following my or any ich advice.

I agree, I have only ever used garlic and it works and I have'nt seen ICK since! Don't chase the fish and put it in a separate tank. Major STRESS!

I'm with Reef raf and Canadian man the garlic worked all the time with my tangs and other fish and the chasing will indeed cause stress. I remember I was at Doud's over the summer. When he had his powder brown tang and i walk by the tank and spooked the fish minutes later he had ick .. :?

I agree garlic seems to work but in my experience, in severe cases it doesn't work worth a damn. If you want the real cure, a stress free, healthy environment with good diet of course.
