![]() Is this the funniest season or what?
Where do they find these guys? These guys are so over the top bad, I almost wonder if it's faked. Watching the curtains episode right now. I can't stop laughing.. This house they're doing is going to have to be torn down when they're done this season....

![]() My favorite scene was when Joe was trying to put a screw into the wall using a drill set on reverse. He tried for 10 mins and finally passed the task on to his wife, he just couldn't figure it out. LOL

![]() I think it has to be staged at least a little? I mean if you were asked to be on a show featuring bad handyman skills, wouldn't you want to prove people wrong??? When the host of the show gets on his knees to beg you to read the instructions on the box of some tile glue, wouldn't you want to show him up? I dunno, I laugh and laugh at the antics, I love the show, but at the same time, how can it really be real??

![]() Many people have no handyman skills. A lot of them would not attempt basic things like cleaning the trap under the sink, installing a dimmer switch, hanging a curtain rod... and hire people to do everything.

![]() We are in the middle of renovations and have decided to do everything ourselves. You cannot find labour in Calgary right now for less than $50 per hour, and then they send out a teenager to do the job who has no clue what he is doing. Nobody cares about your stuff as much as you do, so you are better off to learn how and do it yourself.

![]() One summer we had a university student working on a job and I caught him using a chaulkline to mark a 2 x 4 for cutting because he was too lazy to look for the square. Whether or not the cut was square didn't seem that important to him...
When taking down drywall and insulation from an old house during the demo phase, he wasn't using a dust mask. When I asked him why not, he said that it wasn't important to wear one because all the floating insulation particles were too small to worry about.... On another job (different guy), he was a pretty fast framer, it seemed. His shortcuts were discovered when the drywall was being hung, and the wall would move. It turns out that he was only putting 2 nails in the baseplates to hold walls 15 feet long! We had to go back and re-nail every wall that he worked on! Yes, those handymen are out there. Mitch |
