Default Greater Vancouver Zoo

My Girlfriend works at the zoo, so I got a guided tour on one of her days off. I forgot to check my settings at the beginning of the day so I ended up shooting the entirely at iso1250. These are what I managed to salvage:

Salmon Crested Cockatoo

Demoiselle Crane

Yellow-Naped Amazon Parrot

Mara

Siberian Tiger

Ring-Tailed Lemur

Peacock

Lanner Falcon

Golden Eagle

Bright colored clothing? Noticed that while wearing a surveyor vest in the Calgary Zoo the animals get a little snaky. Particularly the birds and lions (not good, don't stand against the fence or you will need extra underwear ) before the zoo is open to the public.

Nice pics!

So like um.... how does one go about working at a zoo anyways? I mean, my work IS a zoo, but you know what I mean.

:P

My gf is a Biology Major, and her passion is animal care. She's volunteered/worked at the Vancouver Aquarium, and also as a falconer.

Thanks. Those peacocks are pretty dumb. One of them thinks the male turkey is a peahen (female peafowl), and displays/attempts to mount the turkey. Another one has a thing for the satellite dish.

Thanks! It was a pretty hard shot, as the tiger enclosure is a tight knit chain link fence and the tiger was lounging in the grasses. I wish I had a better vantage point.

I don't remember, but I think my jacket was red.... but one of the emu had a total "thing" for me, we were daaancing through the fence.... I had to leave when he tried to show me his genitals and Drew got jealous.
