Default Rodi

Just wondering how exactly they work ! do you just hook it up to the hose when its time to use water or does it hook up to you water supply.

Could just hook up when using but it's not like the purified water comes streaming out of them so would be tying up a tap for awhile. Also they need high pressure to work (50psi range) so getting something setup temporarily that will give a good seal might be difficult.

To tie into the supply is probably best.

50 isnt that much house pressure should be at least that. could i not use teflon tape? what is the GPD ? so if i was looking for 15 gallons it would take a few hours.? if i tied into system would it not restrict the flow to the whole house then.

50-60psi is fairly normal for house pressure and with my membrane getting old I'm finding 20g takes a full day.

Not saying you can't do something temp, you can go to HD and get fittings that will screw into your faucet that will work, it's just "honey, you can't use the kitchen sink for the afternoon" part. Simple tee under the sink, quick release JG fitting...

i was thinking more along the lines of the utility sink or washer hook up since i dont have one. you know a water line that rarely gets used . i geuss it would more permanent than temp, i was underthe assumption that you would put it on you main water in thus filtering for the whole house.

You tee into the supply, not all the house water goes through the unit. For the output if used for drinking water you would put a dedicated faucet on the counter and maybe a line to the ice maker.

Teeing into the washing machine would work, there's a picture here post 26

The picture isn't mine, I have my unit plumbed in hard.

When running my 75g was getting 5g jugs of ro/di from the company that supplies water to our office. Packing the water around and the $7 a bottle it just seemed to make more sense to get my own ro/di.

Now with my 145g couldn't see doing the store bought, smaller tank might be cost effective though not as convenient as having your own unit.
