![]() I need some help, and feel like I've come to the end of my rope in dealing with the situation.
- Some lady hit me in a parking lot before X-mas - She is avoiding me so I have had to put it through insurance. - Insurance won't help me. There is a cranky gate keeper of a lady who won't let me discuss my own policy. She is clearly a member of yesteryear where the man in the household took care of such things. The woman will not allow me to discuss my policy until she talks to "the man of the house". After insisting many times that it is both my policy and my problem, she refuses to help me. I have asked for both someone else, and a supervisor. The woman then takes my number and tells me someone will call back, yet nobody ever does I suspect she tosses the number in the garbage. I really thought we moved beyond this women as a second-class citizen business. I sent a written letter detailing my request to have someone contact me and help me solve the issue. I got a response back from the gatekeeper that basically says she needs to speak to the other policy holder. I am THE ONLY policy holder, I pay the account, and it is always me that provides updates etc. What else can I do? I am at my wits end on how to proceed. |

![]() What insurance company? Call thier direct line, and ask for her supervisor. Or a different adjuster because of harrasment.

![]() Its a small company and I am calling the direct line. I think the lady who picks up is possibly a receptionist? What about trying to dial numbers a few digits off of the direct line? E.g. 555-0000, and me dialing 555-0003 to see if I get someone?
I actually have already tried on a few occasions to get someone else, or a supervisor on the line, all with no success. |

![]() I dont see how she is asking for the other policy holder when there isnt one. Its just you right? Who is this mystery policy holder she is asking to speak with? Your husband? If so just get him to call in and biotch her out.

![]() I would have a guy call and try to navigate past her, then have him pass the phone to you. Where is the office located? Could you go there personally? That's maddening. I feel agitated and it's not even happening to me.

![]() I think I'm going to have a guy call and see what happens. I keep everything in my name with just initials (too many people feel the need to fight with me about what my name is).
This is just out of hand. Its been a month now, with no progress. |

![]() The trick to making progress is to find out exactly what they need. If they need written consent from all individuals on the policy and they understand you are the only person on the policy they should deal with you. Insurance company complaints can be sent to the Insurance Bureau of Canada. http://www.ibc.ca/en/Consumer_Protection/index.asp Here's a link that has the provincial bodies that handle different types of complaints. http://www.servicealberta.gov.ab.ca/...ers:complaints The insurance links are near the bottom.
