Default Basement pump requirements

What are those of you with basement sumps running for return pumps? What head and what flow at tank do you get with it?

Currently using a Iwaki MD70RLT. From the RC head-loss calculator shows about about 15' total head-loss (horz/vert/fittings) but figure I'm ~1000gph. Had started with a March 6 series and figure probably was pushing 2000gph.

Manufacturer's websites will tell you flow rate at head heights. Check out www.jlaquatics.com their website lists the specs for most of the popular pumps.

check out the reeflo pumps Tarpon, Wahoo & Marlin. great head pressure and flow combos. Iwaki 70 is great but electrical pigs and their fans have a higher pitch.

don't ask me why they don't have a graph for the wahoo but thats the pump i'm looking to upgrade to next.

Reefs.org has a pump list that shows wattage. For the Reeflo need to find the cross fr name to MDM number.

Ya wish the Iwaki had less draw but it's not that bad, for comparison its using 263 watts.

Thanks all, I'll have a look through the links. I'll probably need around 1200 GPH at 20ft, so it'll need to be big.

Well, I went to buy a tire and got a Madone 5.1, because you always need another road bike! Right?
