Anyone have any sand available still

I am setting up a couple of small refugiums and I am looking for some sand. Anyone?

In my latest venture the substrate is #6 glass beads. So far I am impressed. The stuff does not need washing, has no sharp corners, is white, is made of glass, so it is inert, and not very expensive. I think $20.00 for a 20kg bag.

Actually Ross brought it over. It is made by Manus abrasive systems.

Jonathan I got it from Manus sand blasting supplies and it is $20 buck for 20KG and comes in sizes 1-13 grit. When mixed with some aragonite you can't tell he difference.

It is located off Barlow trail and Glenmore Tr SE...damn near next door to you (compated to me)

I plan on using aprox 60% of this stuff and 40% arragonite when I set up my big tank. Save some money when you dont need aragonite.

Best sandbed yet...

Don't know for sure if it has the glass beads, now that I rethink it... (Pool filter sand mixed with aragonite, I believe? Gonna have to ask Bob.)

Has anyone looked into the long term effects of using glass beads in the substrate?
It seems to me that the dynamics of a properly living/operating/dissolving sandbed would be kind of important to a successful reef tank.
Even if you could initially ensure that the mixture was even to start with, once the sandbed establishes itself, you're going to be rid of the aragonite unevenly in some areas, then all you'll be left with is glass beads and accumulating detritus. No better than a cc bed. At least a cc bed eventually WILL dissolve :?
