Default RO/DI unit question

For those of you who use a RO/DI unit

I was reading in the manual that the Membrane is not to be left dry as it wreaks it. I was wondering if you remove your membrane and soak it when your RO/DI is not in operation.

i just turn the water supply off and it stays flooded all the time
