Default Too much carbon use?

Some of my soft corals have been behaving strange lately, and I think it's because I've run too much carbon too often lately.

I've been keeping about 500ML of high quality silicarb in an aquaclear 70.

I've decided to run the same ammount, but I've put it on a coralife light timer so that it runs for only 2 hours a day to just polish the water.

Next week (when it's time to change the carbon media) I'm going to cut it back to 1 cup of carbon as well.

I think the carbon has been stripping a lot out of the water, since I only do a water change once a month. My palys and zoos havn't been extending their polyps often, and one of the toadstools went for 3 weeks all sealed up on itself.

I ran about a liter of fluval carbon in the filter for about a month, I think that's what pushed it all over the edge.
